Miriam Elizabeth (Geiger) Painter

Miriam (Geiger) Painter, 82, of Mamont, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 10, 2016, at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born Jan. 26, 1934, in Export, a daughter of the late Clair and Florence (Griffin) Geiger. In addition to her parents, Miriam was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard C. Painter, to whom she was married 54 years, and a son, Douglas Painter. She was the loving mother of Barbi Findley and her husband, Tim, of Saltsburg, Richard Painter and his wife, Marcie, of Apollo, and Nancy Dombroske and her husband, Brian, of Murrysville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Tricia McGarry and her husband, Mike, Brea Ankney and her husband, Scott, Bill Weyel, Tim Findley, Lindsay Coulter and her husband, Jonathan, Blake Painter (fiancee Marilee Madison), Meghan Goodiski and Nicole Goodiski; her dear great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Austin, Lucas, Peytan, Alivia and Carson; brothers, Thomas Geiger, of Towanda, Sonny Geiger, of Pensacola, Fla., Rodney Geiger and his wife, Durinda, of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Nancy Zatezalo, of Export; her brothers-in-law, Harold Painter and his wife, Evelyn, and Ronald Painter; and her nieces and nephews. Miriam had a great joy for baking, especially her special buns. She was referred to as "Grammy" to many children for whom she babysat throughout the years. Miriam belonged to Poke Run Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years and loved singing in the church choir.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo, with the Rev. Peter Goetchius presiding. Interment will follow at Poke Run Cemetery.
