Doyle A. Martz

Doyle A. Martz, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at his home in Salem Township, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Salem Township, son of the late Walter J. and Mary Bell (Carnahan) Martz. In addition to his parents, Doyle was predeceased by his beloved wife, Myrtle (Connell) Martz; three brothers, James, Dale and Glenn Martz; and two sisters, Dorothy Kifer and Marie Roof. He is survived by his loving and devoted family, sons, Larry Martz and his wife, Sarah, of Salem Township, Ronald Martz and his wife, Dorothy, of Salem Township, Eddy Martz and his wife, Janet, of Uvalde, Texas, Walter Martz and his wife, Kim, of Avonmore, Rankin Martz (Nancy Setlock), of Uniontown, and a daughter, Judy Stokes and her husband, Edward, of Delmont; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Ryan and her husband, Bill, of Florida, and nieces and nephews. Doyle proudly served and was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 66. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and was an avid hunter and horseman.  Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Congruity Presbyterian Church in New Alexandria with the Rev. H. Clifton Foster presiding. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign War Post 33 of Greensburg.  Memorial donations may be directed to Congruity Presbyterian Church, 136 Fenneltown Road, New Alexandria, PA 15670.
