Michael S. Chicka Sr., of Salem Township, passed away at his home Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Michael was born Aug. 14, 1929, a son of the late Mike and Sara (Stepanovich) Chicka. He was husband of the late Goldie (Sheffler) Chicka; father of Michael Jr., of Tionesta, Debi Gross (Frank), of Salem Township, Lauretta Eisler (Mark), of Salem Township, Romayne Carter-Chicka, of Salem Township, and the late Alan and David; grandfather of 10; great-grandfather of 14; and brother of his twin, Radie Chicka, of Salem Township, Bobby Chicka (Gladys), of Salem Township, Darlene "Dodi" Deskins (Harold), of Ohio, Mildred Dovyak, of Salem Township, and the late Milton, Dan and Nickie Chicka. Michael was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He retired in 1991 after 43 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the American Legion Post 18 and Slickville Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday only at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, where a service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday.
