John R. "Wallio" Perfetta, 86, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, peacefully at his home in Slickville. The Perfetta family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Bridges Hospice of Pittsburgh for their compassionate care. Wallio was born Jan. 24, 1932, in White Valley, son of the late Frank and Sophia (Mekolajcik) Perfetta. In addition to his parents, Wallio was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Mary (Maruca) Perfetta, in 1979, and Mary (Santucci) Perfetta, in 1998; a son, Frank Perfetta; granddaughter, Samantha; great-grandson, Jacob Ryan; a brother, Frank Perfetta; and brother-in-law, Harold Shawley. Wallio is survived by his loving family, daughters, MaryAnn Turk (Jeff), of Slickville, and Cathy Peak (David), of Bell Township; sons, John R. Perfetta Jr. (Brenda), of Slickville, and Steve Perfetta (Carrie Miller), of Slickville; grandchildren, Mark Perfetta (Robin), Joseph Perfetta (Jennifer), Robert Perfetta (Heidi), Gena Biem (Kenny), Steven King (Danielle), Brandon Perfetta, Justine Libengood, Ryan Libengood, and Steven "Boomer" Perfetta; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Izabella, Kylie, Chelsea, Kenny, Sophia, Roashell, Stevi, Brooklyn and David; great-great-granddaughter, Lilly; a brother, Richard Perfetta (Peggy), of Export; a sister, Louise Shawley, of Slickville; sister-in-law, Judy Perfetta, of Saltsburg; daughter-in-law, Karen Perfetta, of New Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wallio was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, where he faithfully served as an usher for many years. He served as the fire chief for Slickville Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years. He was also a member of Slickville Sportsman's Club and the Slickville Civic Center, Slickville American Legion as a social member, and the Westmoreland County Fireman's Association. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A fireman's memorial gathering will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Slickville. Interment will follow at Eastview Union Cemetery in Delmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to John "Wallio" Perfetta Fire Fund, C/O Slickville Lions Club, P.O.
