Paul R. Beehner Sr., of Delmont, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Ark Manor Personal Care Home in Delmont, with his loving family at his side. The Beehner family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at the Ark Manor Personal Care Home and ViaQuest Hospice for their sincere and compassionate care. He was born March 7, 1935, in Greensburg, son of the late Benjamin Carl and Elizabeth (Hunter) Beehner. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Joy (Christy) Beehner; sons, Paul Robert Beehner Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Greensburg, David Beehner and his wife, Kitty, of Salem, Va., Gregory Beehner and his wife, Tracey, of Plum, and John Beehner and his wife, Darla, of Monroeville; grandchildren, Sean Beehner, Tom Beehner (Janel), Maggie Spracher (Dan), Christy Hosko (Alex), Ryan Beehner (Kelsea), and their son Ashedyn, Johnna and Jake Beehner; a sister, Jane Croushore, of Greensburg; and many nieces and nephews. Paul began his sheet metal career in 1954 and spent all of his working career dedicated to Overly Manufacturing Co. and Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 12. While working at Overly, he served as trustee of Local No. 12 and became an instructor at the apprenticeship school. In 1986, Paul became the apprenticeship coordinator of Local No. 12, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Delmont Presbyterian Church, where he served as trustee, deacon, elder and avid volunteer. Paul was also a member of the Delmont Lions Club, serving on many committees and as Past King Lion and also the Christmas in Salem Crossroads. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. Ross S. Bash presiding at Delmont Presbyterian Church. The Beehner family requests that everyone please meet at the church. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
