John W. Swanger, Sr.

John W. Swanger Sr., 72, of Export, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. He was born July 1, 1944, in Greensburg, a son of the late Wayne and Kathleen (Ashbaugh) Swanger. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Harry James Swanger. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (King) Swanger; son, John W. Swanger Jr.; and two daughters, Ellie Swanger and Rita Swanger, all of Export; a sister, Irene Gross and her husband, Pat, of Greensburg; nephews, Paul King II, Allen Gross; and nieces, Nicole King and her two sons, Tyler and Cole, Angie Gross, Kathleen Baker and Darla Baker. John will also be missed by the "Furry Swangers"!  Friends will be received 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, where funeral services will commence at 7:30 p.m., with Pastor Susan Beth Hans presiding.
