Harold Lee Shawley

Harold Lee Shawley, 73, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at his home in Slickville with his loving family at his side. The Shawley family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hopsice for their compassionate and sincere care. Harold Lee was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Export, son of the late Velma (Shawley) Cline and Oliver Cline. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Louise (Perfetta) Shawley; brother Arthur Shawley, and his wife, Betty, of Apollo; sister Peggy (Shawley) Perfetta, and her husband, Richard, of Export; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews whom he loved and cared for as his own children. Harold was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Slickville. He proudly served and was honorably discharged from the Army, including serving in Vietnam. After graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of California, Pa., Harold taught world cultures and geography at Franklin Regional School District, where he also coached football and basketball. He was a member of Slickville American Legion Post 18, lifetime member of Slickville Sportsmans Club, the Slickville Civic Center and the Slickville Fire Department, where he was also the treasurer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Slickville with Father Sam Lamendola and Father Anthony Carbone as celebrants. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.
