Dorothy Grubach Obituary

Dorothy (Rehak) Grubach, 89, of Slickville, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.  She was born January 30,1929, in Turtle Creek, PA, a daughter of the late William and Mildred (Franklin) Rehak.  Dorothy will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, caring and devoted wife, mother and friend, who believed that happiness is the whole world as friends, and that you always had room in your life for another friend.  To her, life was gladness, loving, helping and sharing, and above all forgiving, and to always live by your heart, and by your faith.  Her kindness had no end and her beliefs were everlasting.  After graduating from Saltsburg High School, Dorothy worked as an airline stewardess for United Airlines.  She also attended Duff Business School; did secretarial and accounting work for the University of Pittsburgh and Giant Eagle for many years before retirement.  For 35 years she was the organist for St Sylvester Church and Slickville Presbyterian Church, and played for numerous churches and special occasions throughout the area.  She was active in Girl Scouts and the Slickville Ambulance Service.  As an avid quilter, she belonged to Loyalhanna Quilters Guild, and at one time flew 60 quilts to needy children in Nicaragua.  She was a longtime member of St Sylvester R.C. Church, the Rosary Altar Society, and Westmoreland Choral Society; volunteered for the Red Cross and the   American Heart Association, and was always available to help someone in need.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Bertha Cindric, brother William Rehak and granddaughter Jessica Aaron. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her beloved family. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Thomas E Grubach Sr., sons Thomas M Grubach Jr. of Slickville, PA, Robert P Grubach  of Thomasville,  AL; daughters Diana Reed (Jeff Piovesan), and Susan Aaron (John), both of Slickville; Granddaughters Amber Joyce of Moore, OK, Marjorie Aaron Slickville PA,  Ariel Grubach of Austin, TX,  Kaylee Grubach of Nixon,  MO, Marissa Grubach of Orlando FL, Emily Grubach of Spanish Fort,  AL; great granddaughters Sadie and Ava, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Bash-Nied Funeral Home 152 Abbe Place, Delmont 724-468-8381 where a Blessing Service will be held Monday 10 AM.
