Bernice (Friend) Sand

Bernice (Friend) Sand, 86, of Washington Twp., formerly of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017. Bernice’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Barnes Place of Latrobe for their sincere and compassionate care. She was born July 18, 1931 in Flippin, Arkansas, daughter of the late Ed and Clemma (Pilgrim) Friend. In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe H. Sand and a brother, Carl Friend. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Marelyn Miller of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughters Danielle Euker and her husband Mark of VA and Amanda Miller and her husband, Nate Iacovino of NJ; great grandchildren Moira, Logan, Regan and Aaron Euker and Harper Iacovino; sisters Mae Heckathorn of Blairsville, Catherine Schrecengost of Derry and nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. Bernice will also be dearly missed by James and Kerrie Broderick, whom she loved like a son, and their children, of Berlin, Pa. Bernice enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, especially for her family and relaxing with coffee and cigarettes. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Bash-Nied Funeral Home 152 Abbe Place, Delmont 724-468-8381 where services will be held Thursday 11AM with Rev. Charles Brownawell presiding. Interment services will follow at Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont, Pa.
