William "Bill" R. Weyel Sr., 91, of Washington Township, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born June 7, 1924, in Homestead, son of the late William and Marietta (Williams) Weyel. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Rea Weyel, in 2008; a brother, Norman Weyel; and sisters, Wilda Guy, Jeannette Weyel and Lois Dumas. He is survived by a son, Bill Weyel Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Washington Township; a daughter, Cathy Jobe and her husband, Don, of Washington Township; grandchildren, Nathan Jobe and his wife, Nicki, of Eden, N.Y., Melissa Holm and her husband, David, of Washington Township, Tricia McGarry and her husband, Michael, of Washington Township, Brea Ankney and her husband, Scott, of Bell Township, and Bill Weyel and his wife, Jenn, of Bell Township; great-grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Peytan, Alivia, Lucas, Austin, Avery, Adleigh, Tucker, Delaney, Zoe, Max, Nina and Alyssa; a brother, Donald E. Weyel and his wife, Marge; and also nieces and nephews. Bill was a World War II veteran having served in Italy in the Army Air Corps, where he developed a lasting passion for Aircraft and firearms resulting in becoming a lifetime member of NRA, the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association and a past member of Browning Collectors Association. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and worked as a licensed pharmacist for over 57 years in various communities of Westmoreland County, during which he made many nighttime runs to the pharmacy, filling emergency prescriptions for family, friends and neighbors. Bill was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church of Delmont, where he served in many different capacities but most enjoyed being an usher, which he continued until his recent move into personal care. Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont with the Rev. Ronald A. Raptosh presiding. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont with military honors provided by VFW Post 33 of Greensburg.
