William P. "Bill" Walter Jr., 81, of Delmont, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette with his loving family at his side. He was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Brownstown, son of the late William P. Sr. and Elsie Livengood Walter. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by two sisters, Eva Mae Apjok and Margaret "Peggy" Ford. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Iris Widdowson Walter; and two sons, Alan Walter, of New Alexandria, and Daniel Walter, of Appaloosa, S.C.; granddaughter, Darlene Walter (Josh), of Greensburg, and Michael Walter, of Delmont; great-grandchildren, Kaylob, Kamrin and Kenzie; sister, Vernie King, of Florida; a brother, Albert Walter (Connie), of Idaho; sister, Mary Jane Strittmatter, of Indiana, Pa.; and also nieces and nephews. Bill was honorably discharged after serving during the Korean War in the Air Force. He retired from Jones and Laughlin Steel in Pittsburgh after 34 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing and working in the garden. According to the family's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at the Delmont Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Clifford E. Buell presiding.
