Richard S. Zezyus, 89, passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at his home in Mamont, Washington Township. He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Export, son of the late Waclaw and Petronella Wiezbinzki Zezyus. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Catherine "Toots" Zezyus; and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Lynn Kneller and her husband, Stephen, of Breckenridge, Colo.; a son, Thomas R. Zezyus and his wife, Jennifer, of Mamont, Washington Township, with whom he resided; and grandchildren, Thomas A., Kate, Ann and Emily Zezyus and Malcolm (Ilene) Kneller. He is also survived by a brother, Raymond (Flo) Zezyus; and sisters, Irene Zezyus, Theresa Basista and Tina Zychal. Richard was a member of St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church in Slickville and the Export American Legion. Before retirement, he was employed as a supervisor at the Fisher Body Plant of General Motors in Dravosburg. He also proudly served in the Army.
Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Slickville, with Father John J. Harrold as celebrant. Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, with military honors provided by VFW Post 33 of Greensburg.
