Lois J. (Good) Bortz

Lois Good Bortz, of Delmont, went to heaven on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015. She was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Boquet, to the late Oscar Marion Good and Anna Marie (Lux) Good. She was a 1948 graduate of Penn Joint High School. She retired from Greensburg Salem School District as an administrative secretary. She was an active member of Penn-Zion's Lutheran Church in Harrison City for her entire life. She enjoyed shopping, attending the Pittsburgh Steelers games for many seasons and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Lynn (the late Joseph) Mance, of Delmont; and her devoted son, Robert (Sherry), of Derry. She was Grandma to Michael (Heather Kosmatine) Mance, of Delmont, Ryan (Kristi) Mance, of New York, Erin Bortz, of Virginia, and Matthew Bortz, of Derry. She was Great-Grandma to Camren, Owen, Luca and Bennett Mance. She was known as "Sis" to her siblings. She is survived by sisters, Joanne (the late Tom) Brookover and LaVerne (Alan) Mochnick; brother, Butch (Lois) Good; sisters-in-law, Mary Good, Sue Good and Valerie Good. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen (the late Paul) Koontz; brothers, Bill Good, Ed Good and Kip Good; niece, Regina Mattucci; and former husband, Edgar L. Bortz. The family thanks Darlene Kelly and the staff of Kelly's Personal Care Home for their loving care for the past two years. They also thank Dr. William Winslow, D.O., and the staff of Mountain View Family Health Center for their continuous care. Friends received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday only at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Penn-Zion's Lutheran Church, Harrison City, with the Rev. Roger Steiner presiding.
