John Calvin Mook

John C. Mook, of Delmont since 1952, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. John was born July 31, 1926, in Titusville, a son of the late Raymond L. and Ella P. (Payne) Mook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan M. (Magee) Mook; a sister, Shirley Conley; and brothers, Paul and Conrad Mook. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Glunt (Tim), of Grampian; grandsons, Nathan Glunt (Jess), of Clearfield, and Matthew Glunt (Megan), of Hartford, Conn.; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Elijah, Elise, Keilah and Elliott. John is also survived by nieces and nephews. A graduate of Bucknell University, John was the former owner (operator) of Delmont Hardware, a member and former trustee of Delmont Presbyterian Church, member and former past king lion of the Delmont Lions Club, member and past commander of Delmont American Legion Post 247 and he was a 20-year member of the Franklin Regional School Board. John was also the 2008 and 2016 recipient of the Delmont citizen of the year Award. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran, having served with the Navy and was afterwards honorably discharged.  Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Delmont Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Caroline A. Vickery presiding. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, with military honors provided by VFW Post 33 of Greensburg.
