George O. Adams Sr., 88, a former resident of Swissvale and Harrison City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, in Gaithersburg, Md., with his loving family at his side. George was a member of Community Methodist Church in Irwin. He enjoyed his family and traveling with his wife of 68 years, Norma Whetton Adams. George worked as a tool and die maker at Whitaker Metals and instilled the values of integrity, professionalism and hard work in his four sons, George O. Adams Jr. (Debra Okorn), of Amherst, Ohio, John "Jack" W. Adams (Janet Lukas), of Murrysville, Thomas J. Adams (Linda Carter), of McCordsville, Ind., and Donald E. Adams (Daria Novekosky), of Reston, Va. An avid craftsman, he loved working with wood and making toys for his grandchildren, George III, Shawn, Christopher, Kimberly, Heather, Thomas Jr., Tasha and Kyla. George's pride and joy was his family. He was blessed to know his great-grandchildren, George IV, Rebecca, Shawn "Kai", Logan and Keira. George was born April 5, 1926, in Braddock, a son of the late William and Agnes (Jamieson) Adams. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian E. Adams; and a sister, Marion Adams. George is survived by his sisters, Kathryn Adams, of Jarrettsville, Md., and Marjorie Bigham (Elmer), of Selah, Wash.; as well as his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Infinity Lodge No. 546 Free and Accepted Masons. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Irwin, with Pastor John Ciampa presiding.
