Esther K. (Powell) Himes

Esther K. (Powell) Himes, 91, of Delmont, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at home with her loving family at her side. She was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Ringgold Township, daughter of the late Cloyd and Anna Mary (Mottern) Powell. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin C. Himes, and two brothers, Preston L. Powell and William L. Powell. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Bronson and her husband, William, of Greensburg, and two sons, Gary Himes and his wife, Nina, of Chambersburg, and Barry Himes and his wife, Janet, of Delmont; grandchildren, Tracy Showman (Jay), Jennifer Bronson, Randy Himes (Dee), Steven Himes (Meredith), Christine Sweeney, Ryan Himes (Kathleen) and David Himes, Sherri Ford  and Michael Ford (Lindsay), Andrew Curfman and Tyler Curfman; great-grandchildren, Paige, Delaney, Beckham, Rocco, Travis and Lilly; also nieces and nephews. Esther retired in 1988 as a custodian for the Hempfield School District. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, 724-468-8381, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Ronald A. Raptosh presiding. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park.
