Ephraim W. Woodyear

Ephraim W. Woodyear, 93, of Loyalhanna Township, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at William Penn Care Center in Penn Township, with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley (Daniel) Woodyear; son, Russell Woodyear, of Westchester, N.Y.; daughter, Nancy DiMaggio, of Loyalhanna Township; and sisters, nieces and nephews. After graduating from high school, Ephraim proudly served his country in the Army, during World War II and subsequently was honorably discharged. His family reminisces about him playing semiprofessional baseball in New York and being honored with a trophy for hitting the most home runs. Ephraim retired as a loan officer with Amalgamated Bank of New York. Friends and family will be received for visitation 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont 724-468-8381, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Pastor Kara Probst presiding. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
