Dorothy E. (Kessinger) Bortz

Dorothy E. (Kessinger) Bortz, 87, of Delmont, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Westmoreland Manor, in Hempfield Township, with her loving family at her side. Dorothy's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Westmoreland Manor for the sincere and compassionate care given to her. She was born July 11, 1929, in St. Thomas, Pa., daughter of the late Reuel and Lula Mae (Miller) Kessinger. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, James H. Bortz Jr.; sons James H. Bortz III, and his wife, Nancy, and William A. Bortz Sr., of Export; and a daughter, B. Marlene Crusan, and her husband, William, of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, James IV (April), Rachel (Ray), Jason (Kim), William Jr. (Barb), Derek (Nella), Billy Jr. and Nicole; and great-grandchildren, Lizzie, David, Aden, Joey, Katie, Olivia, Andy, Jack, Sidney and Claire. She will also be dearly missed by her much loved sister, Mary Seibert, and her husband, Kenny, of Carlisle. Dorothy was a member of Delmont Presbyterian Church. She was a charter coordinator for the Delmont Teenager Club, volunteered for the Meals on Wheels and Salvation Army programs in Delmont and loved her flowers. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday with funeral home services commencing at 1 p.m. at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, with Pastor Caroline A. Vickery presiding. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.
