Archie H. Hartin, Jr.

Archie H. Hartin Jr., 79, of Salem Township, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, March 14, 2015. He was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Archibald H. Sr. and Lena Starkey Hartin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hartin. Archie is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary "Liz" Osborne Hartin; daughters, Beth Tyson, of Delmont, Jill Paha, of Saltsburg, Gayle Hartin, of Salem Township, and Amy Abbelby-Harris (Kevin), of Maryland; grandchildren, Josh Daugherty (Amanda), of Murrysville, Adam Daugherty, of Delmont, Heather Jones, of Pittsburgh, Mallory (Kellen), of California, and Rachel Appelby (Drew Graham), of South Dakota; great-grandchildren, Adaire, Ashtyn and Noah; brothers, Burley Hartin (Joan Kotz), of Oakmont, and Harvey Hartin (Marilyn), of Connecticut; and also numerous nieces and nephews. Archie was a well-known baker and worked at the former Sherman's Bakery in Wilkinsburg. He loved to fish, was an avid gardener and was especially proud of his 5-pound sweet potato. He was also a member of the McKeesport Masonic Lodge. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (time later) at Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church in Murrysville with Pastor Curtis Paul presiding.
