Allen D. Stevenson, 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at his home in Slickville. He was born April 27, 1930, in Indiana, Pa., son of the late Allen D. Sr. and Anne H. (Lazor) Stevenson. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Inez (Frassenei) Stevenson; and sisters, Ruth (Stevenson) Wisniewski and Katherine (Stevenson) Smith. Allen is survived by his loving children, Alan "Dino" Stevenson and his wife, Tracey, of Delmont, Lisa (Stevenson) McClincy and her husband, James, Joseph Stevenson and his wife, Beth, and Gloria (Stevenson) Rehak and her husband, Kevin, all of Greensburg; grandchildren, Nicole and Tyler Stevenson, Michael McClincy (Traci), Meghan (McClincy) Gorman (Wes), Duncan and Daniel Stevenson and Nick, Olivia and Joseph Rehak; a great-grandson, Grant McClincy; a sister, Nellie (Stevenson) Stewart (Dean), of San Diego, Calif.; and brothers-in-law, Jacob Smith, Rogers Frassenei (Jane) and Dino Frassenei (Maxine); and also many nieces many nieces and nephews. Allen was a veteran of the Army where he served with distinction as a military policeman in post-World War II Germany with the 175th Military Policy Battalion in Boeblingen, Germany. Allen later obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the State Teachers College at Indiana (Indiana University of Pennsylvania). After completing his studies, Allen was a career educator as a high school history and social studies teacher at Elderton High School in Elderton. He was an active member of St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church and a long-time member of the American Legion Post 18, both in Slickville.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbey Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church in Slickville. Interment services will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 33 of Greensburg.
